Jamon Ector

Doctoral Intern

Jamon is a practicum student currently in his second year of the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program at National Louis University. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he studied Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. He later earned a Master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.

Jamon brings a diverse professional background to his clinical training. His previous experience includes working as a Mental Health Associate with individuals experiencing behavioral health and substance use concerns, serving within the Department of Veterans Affairs, and working as a correctional officer. These experiences have allowed him to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and have contributed to his interest in understanding the ways that life experiences, environment, and trauma can impact mental health and overall well-being.

Having grown up in a military family, with both of his parents serving more than 20 years in the armed forces, Jamon was exposed early to the values of service, resilience, and supporting others. He also comes from a family with a strong background in healthcare, which further influenced his desire to pursue a career centered on helping individuals heal and recover from psychological and emotional challenges. As he begins his formal clinical training, Jamon is particularly interested in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and significant life stressors. His developing clinical interests include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). He approaches clinical work with an emphasis on building genuine therapeutic relationships, understanding each individual within the context of their unique experiences, and helping clients develop meaningful strategies for growth, resilience, and well-being.
