Our wellness center offers various services specifically tailored to the unique needs of first responders.
Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) sessions provide individuals with a chance to talk about a trauma they’ve experienced with others who were involved or affected by the crisis. A CISD generally takes place within the first three days after the traumatic event and is open to people who were hurt, saw others hurt or killed, or served as First Responders.
CISD has three primary goals:
A normal session involves a small group talking about their shared experiences with guidance from a trained professional, who will offer ways to manage stress and help people understand their emotional reactions to the crisis. CISD participants are encouraged to describe details of the event from their own perspective and discuss their reactions. When an individual has experienced a traumatic event, it can be extremely helpful to talk with others who went through it too. With CISD, individuals can work through their feelings to help get their lives back to normal.
