Due to their unique job-related stress and consistent exposure to trauma, First Responders have been found to experience anxiety, depression, suicide, and addiction as much as five times higher than the general population. These factors make First Responders far more susceptible to developing PTSD, sleep disorders, cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
Our Mental Health, PTSD & Trauma training is a supportive awareness program designed to halt the cycle of unaddressed trauma in First Responders in order to improve overall health and wellness.
The program focuses on training First Responders to understand the critical need to address and utilize support systems. Topics include:
- Stress management techniques
- Utilizing the body's natural ability to reduce stress with brain retraining techniques and exercises
- Recognizing signs of mental illness in oneself and one's peers
- Trauma-based therapeutic treatments such as EMDR and CBT
- Adequately addressing critical incidents to avoid severe and chronic problems, such as PTSD
- Understanding delayed reactions from critical incidents
